Inexpensive Fun

There is nothing worse than bored, whiny kids in the summer time. Equally horrible is spending a bunch of money to make them stop whining! Here are some great ideas of things to do this summer that will cure the boredom and not break the bank!

  • Barnes & Noble Summer Reading – Your kidlet will earn a free book after logging in eight!
  • Borders Summer Reading Challenge – After reading ten books, your child can pick a free one from a pre-selected group.
  • Lowe’s Build & Grow – Kids will learn how to build projects like a truck or binoculars in free demonstrations two Saturdays a month. Check with your local store for their schedule.
  • Home Depot Workshops – The first Saturday of each month kids can participate in a free class to learn tool safety and build a project like coasters or a pencil box.
  • Michael’s Passport to Fun – On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for $5, your child can do a unique craft project from a different country.
  • Bank of America Museums on Us – Free admission the first weekend each month of participating museums if you’re a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit, debit or ATM card holder. See the list here for museums by you!
  • Target Arts – Take a peek at the list here of participating free or reduced price events in your area sponsored by Target!
  • KidsBowlFree.Com – Check out the list here to find a bowling alley near you where your kid can get two free games per day. You can also get a family pass starting at $25! Quite a few in Michigan!
