What Do All These Coupon Abbreviations Mean?

 

When you coupon, you’re going to see a lot of coupon abbreviations online and sometimes even on the coupons themselves. What do all those letters mean? Here’s a breakdown of some of the most common coupon lingo you’ll see. This is a great list to print and keep in your binder!

 

Common Coupon Abbreviations:

 

$1/1 or any other values – Indicates $1 off one product, etc.
$/$$ – Indicates a coupon for $X off of $XX such as $5 off $20.
AR – After Rebate
AYOR – At Your Own Risk
B1G1 or BOGO – Buy 1 Get 1 Free (you may see other variations like B5G1 for buy 5 get 1 free or B2G1 for buy 2 get 1 free)
BC/AC – Before Coupons/After Coupons
Blinkies – Machines inside the store with a red blinking light that offer Smart Source coupon print outs
BTFE – Box Tops for Education
Cat – Check out coupon, usually good on your next shopping trip
C/O – Cents Off
CRT – Cash Register Tape aka Receipt
DND – Do Not Double
Envie – Envelope
ETS – Excludes Trial Size
Ex or X – Expiration Date
FAR – Free After Rebate
Inserts – Coupon inserts found in the Sunday paper
IP – Internet Printable Coupon
IVC – Instant Value Coupon
Match ups – References when a store sale is matched up with current coupons to provide the best deals.
MFR – Manufacturer
MIR – Mail in Rebate
MM – Money Maker
MRP – Manufacturer’s Retail Price
NED – No Expiration Date
OOP – Out of Pocket
OOS – Oct of Stock
OP – Original Post/Poster
OVERAGE – When your coupon value is higher than the purchase price.
OYNO – On Your Next Order
Peelie – Sticker coupon located on product
Q – Coupon
Rain Check or RC – A certificate from a store that allows you to purchase out of stock items at a sale price.
RP – Red Plum, Sunday paper insert
SS – Smart Source, Sunday paper insert
SCR – Single Check Rebate (found at Rite Aid)
Stacking – Using a store and manufacture coupon on the same item
Tearpad – Pad of coupons located by the product in the store that you tear off
UPC – Universal Product Code (barcode)
WYB – When You Buy
Rewards Programs:
Register Rewards or RR – available at Walgreens
Up+ Rewards – available at Rite Aid
Extra Care Bucks or ECB’s – available at CVS
