I had a coupon failure today at Staples when i tried to use two of the $1.50 off one coupons for air effects fabreeze. The wording on the coupon made my cashier say i couldnt use 2 coupons in one transaction. the sale price was $2.50 each when you buy two or more so i didn’t buy them as they would have rang up full price if i only had one in my transaction. Anyone else had this with the latest round of P & G coupons? I hadn’t noticed but the wording is different than it use to be 🙁

Oh no, Deb! What was the wording? I know P & G has been routinely updating their wording to deal with the fraud, etc.

I will check and share back. (im at work and they are in my car) 😉

I took a pic of the coupon (without the barcode so I don’t get in trouble 😉 – it’s here: http://screencast.com/t/6pdcWiPs3x But the actual working is this:
CONSUMER: LIMIT ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE of products and qualities stated. LIMIT OF 4 LIKE COUPONS PER HOUSEHOLD PER DAY.

Cashier said that one coupon per purchase of product meant I couldn’t use 2 coupons when buying 2. Strange, but I didn’t argue because that wording was new to me.

I wish they said it more clearly! My understanding is that it means no more than one coupon per item. Like you couldn’t use a $1.50 off 1 coupon and then a $2 off 5 coupon on the same things. Does that make sense? I have had a lot of confused cashiers over this too. 🙁

I think I’m going to try and use them at Walmart with the Staples ad match and see what happens. I do wish the wording were less confusing as well. It would be great if they had examples in that fine print 🙂 I agree with your interpretation – too bad my cashier didn’t. I go there all the time (Staples) but this was the first non-store coupon I have ever tried to use. I usually get good deals with the staple rewards/store coupons on their own. She was VERY nice about it though – which I appreciate greatly.

At least she was nice! There is nothing worse than when you get a bad cashier who is snotty about your coupons!

I decided to email P & G for their interpretation of this wording 🙂 Will let you know if I get a response.
